Job Title: Head Coach - Abingdon Rugby Club (Men's Senior Teams)

About Abingdon Rugby Club:

Abingdon Rugby Club is a community-focused club in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, dedicated to player development and teamwork. We have two Senior Men’s Teams. The 1st team play at Level 8 in the Counties 2 Berks, Bucks & Oxon North, the 2nd team play at Level 9 in the Counties 3 Berks, Bucks & Oxon North.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead a structured training programme for the men's senior team, focusing on skill enhancement, tactical understanding, and fitness.
• Plan match strategies and formations for competitive fixtures, working closely with team captains and assistant coaches.
• Conduct player assessments and provide feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
• Foster a positive team culture based on sportsmanship, respect, and commitment.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Extensive coaching experience at a competitive level, ideally with men's senior teams.
• Recognised coaching certifications (e.g., RFU Level 2 or equivalent).
• There is scope for a suitable candidate to receive support in the pursuit of a Level 2 or England Rugby Advanced Coaching Award (ERACA Level 3).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of rugby tactics and player development.
• Compensation package available
• ⁠⁠Mentoring from an RFU Level 3 coach to progress skills and knowledge

Additional Information:

This is a part-time role during the rugby season (July to May) the ideal candidate will be able to fully commit to all training and match days during the season. 

• Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays - 6.45pm - 8.30pm
• Match days are on Saturday between September and May
• Availability during the week to liaise with assistant coaches and managers is flexible
