Welcome to the Abingdon RFC Mini and Junior Section
As a club we are proud to champion Rugby’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship which we hope inspires lifelong bonds between the children, adults and our sport.
Our philosophy within the Minis and Juniors section is to put the children at the heart of everything we do and at the centre of all the decisions that we make, that is why we have very proudly taken the Quilter Kids First Pledge for the U7-U13 age grades.
Within the U14 –U18 age grade our core values are strongly upheld and the ethos is to be competitive and to enjoy winning but not at all costs, as it’s the fun of playing with you mates that we as a club support above all.
We have an amazing group of very dedicated, RFU qualified coaches who help create a safe, fun and inclusive environment for all children to learn and prosper through rugby.
Using rugby union as a vehicle for developing your young person’s “Personal and Social” skills can have a dramatic impact on all aspects of their life.
So that the children can gain the most of their time on a Sunday morning, we ask that all children arrive promptly, with their kit and that a suitable responsible adult is present at all times.
If you cannot stay you can nominate another adult to act as the person responsible for your child. This should be notified to the lead coach, and contact details should be noted.
As a club we are committed to providing the best possible experience for all our children, ensuring that they feel safe and are protected from any harm, discrimination or exploitation and that’s why we have a Safeguarding policy and code of conduct for all club officials, players and parents which is published within the club house. We do ask that all parents/guardians read these carefully.
Our club house welcomes all on a Sunday morning to enjoy a cuppa and a bacon Roll and is a hive of activity after training too…and can be hired out for all sorts of events, and is discounted for club members.
It’s thanks to our small army of volunteers who help keep the club running throughout the rugby season and beyond, that we have some fantastic facilities for you and your children to enjoy. We are always looking for parents/guardians who can help out if they can, so if you can spare a few hours a month with the running of your age group or in the club house then please speak to our Club Volunteer Coordinator, your support is invaluable to us!
I do hope that you and your children enjoy this and many other seasons to come here at Abingdon RFC
